Help for checking DST files on the Web and building embroidery quotes with StitchQuote for iPhone.
Contact Support
Email support@stitchquote.app if a DST file cannot be parsed or you have a question about the tool. When reporting a problem, include the error message and the app or browser you used. Do not send a design file unless you choose to share it.
What is StitchQuote?
StitchQuote is a DST inspection and embroidery quoting product. The free Web tool checks a file's stitch count, design dimensions, color stops, warnings, and preview. StitchQuote for iPhone adds pricing rules, quote calculation, saved settings, and quote history.
How to open a DST file
Open the DST Viewer, choose a `.dst` file, and review the result. The browser reads the file locally. On a supported iPhone, the app can open a DST file through the device's file picker.
How stitch count is calculated
StitchQuote decodes normal stitch commands from the DST data. Jumps, color stops, the end command, bounds, and warnings are handled separately so the displayed stitch count is not inflated by movement commands.
Design dimensions
Design dimensions are calculated from the decoded stitch-path bounds and displayed in millimetres. They describe the data in the file and should be checked against production software before sewing.
Pricing rules
StitchQuote for iPhone calculates a quote from the DST file data and the pricing rules you configure. The Web tool remains an inspection tool and does not become a full pricing workflow.
Quote history
StitchQuote for iPhone is designed to keep quote history and saved pricing settings on the device. The current Web tool does not create accounts or provide server-side quote history.
Local file processing and privacy
The Web DST file is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to StitchQuote servers. The iPhone workflow is designed to keep the selected file data, pricing settings, and quote history local to the device. Read the Privacy Policyfor the current data boundaries.
Unsupported or invalid DST files
An incomplete, malformed, or unsupported DST file may fail to parse or produce warnings. Keep the original file and try exporting it again from the design software. If you still cannot parse it, contact support@stitchquote.app.
Troubleshooting
Use a current browser, confirm the file ends in `.dst`, and try the file again without a browser extension that blocks local file access. Clear the current result and reload the page if the preview becomes unresponsive. Important production decisions should be verified in your embroidery software and by a qualified operator.
